Solve; (i) 5x+3/4 – 2x-4/3 = 5 (ii) 3(x + 5)-2(3x-1) =15

Answer:

(i) 5x+3/4 – 2x-4/3 = 5

= 3(5x +3) - 4 (2x - 4) = 5

= 15x + 9 - 8x + 16 = 60

= 7x + 25 = 60

= 7x = 60 - 25

= x = 35/7

= x = 5

(ii) 3(x + 5)-2(3x-1) =15

= 3x +15 - 6x + 2 = 15

= -3x  + 17 = 15

= 17 - 15 = 3x

= 2 = 3x

= 3x = 2

= x = 2/3
