1.
x+3y=10
x = 10 - 3y ----------------------1

2x+y=5 ----------------------------2

Putting the value of x in 2

20 - 6y + y = 5
-5y = -15
y = 3

Putting the value of y in 1

x = 10 - 9
x = 1

2.
2x+y=1
y = 1 - 2x ---------------------------------1

3x-4y=18 ----------------------------------2

Putting the value of y in 2

3x  - 4 + 8x = 18
11x = 22
x = 2

For y , putting the x in 1

y = 1 - 2x
y = 1 - 4
y = -3

1 Solution
x+3y=10
x = 10 - 3y -----------1
2x+y=5 ------------------2

Substitute the value of x in equation 2

20 - 6y + y = 5
-5y = -15
y = 3

Substitute the value of y in equation 1

x = 10 - 9
x = 1
Therefore the value of x=1,y=3

2.Solution

2x+y=1
y = 1 - 2x ---------------------1
3x-4y=18 --------------------2

Substitute the value of y in equation 2

3x  - 4 + 8x = 18
11x = 22
x = 2

Substitute  the value of  x in equation 1

y = 1 - 2x
y = 1 - 4
y = -3
Therefore the value of x =2,y=-3
