 {x}^{3}  - a {x}^{2}  + bx + 3
leaves a remainder -19 when divided by (x+2) and a reminder 17 when divided by (x-2) prove that a+b=6

Put x = -2

-8 -4a-2b + 3 = -19

so, 4a +2b = 14

so, 2a + b =7

Put x= 2

8 - 4a+ 2b +3 = 17

so, 4a - 2b = -6

2a - b = -3

add both of them to get a= 1

and b =5

so, a + b= 6
