7x- 15y= 2

x+2y= 3

7x- 15y= 2 eq1

x+2y = 3 eq2

from 1 and 2

7x- 15y = 2

7x= 2+ 15 y

x= 2+15 y / 7

Required Answer:-

Given:

  • 7x - 15y = 2
  • x + 2y = 3

To find:

  • The value of x and,
  • The value of y.

Solution:

We have,

➡ 7x - 15y = 2 ......(i)

➡ x + 2y = 3 ......(ii)

If we multiply both sides of equation (i) by 2, we get,

➡ 2(7x - 15y) = 2 × 2

➡ 14x - 30y = 4 ......(iii)

If we multiply both sides of equation (ii) by 15, we get,

➡ 15(x + 2y) = 15 × 3

➡ 15x + 30y = 45 ......(iv)

Now, we can see that if equation (iii) and (iv) are added, then 30y and -30y gets cancelled out. So, adding equation (iii) and (iv), we get,

➡ 14x + 15x = 49

➡ 29x = 49

➡ x = 49/29

Substituting the value of x in (ii), we get,

➡ 49/29 + 2y = 3

➡ 2y = 3 - 49/29

➡ 2y = (87 - 49)/29

➡ 2y = 38/29

➡ y = 38/29 × 1/2

➡ y = 19/29

Hence,

  • x = 49/29
  • y = 19/29

Answer:

  • The value of x is 49/29 and,
  • The value of y is 19/29.
