Force exerted By The chain On The table, It consist of Two parts :

1. Weight oF The portion BC of the chain lying on the table,

W = mg/2

2. Thrust Force Ft = Lambda v^2

Here,

Lambda = mass per unit length of chain =m/l

V^2 = (√gl) ^2= gl

Ft = (m/l) (gl) = mg

Net force exerted by the chain on the table is :

F = W + Ft

= mg/2 + mg = 3/2 mg ( vertically upwards)

Final Answer : F = 3/2mg
