For each day, the person remains absent, he is fined = 30 Rs.

So, in (40 - x) days, the person is fined = 30(40 - x) Rs.

So, according to the question, we have,

Earning in x days - fine in (40 - x) days = total earning in 40 days

$150x - 30(40 - x) = 3300$

On solving above, we have,

$150x - 1200 + 30x = 3300$

$180x = 4500$

$x = \frac{450}{18}$

$x = 25 \: days$

Hence, the number of days a person worked is 25 days.
