Answer :

We see in the given figure that 2x and y are forming linear pair( on a straight line). Sum of the angles forming on a straight line is of 180^{\circ}. The value of x + y = 100^{\circ} is given in the question.

so,

 :  \implies 2x + y = 180   ^{ \circ}

 :  \implies x + x + y = 180   ^{ \circ}

put  x + y = 100^{\circ}

 :  \implies x + 100 ^{ \circ}  = 180   ^{ \circ}

 :  \implies x   = 180   ^{ \circ}  - 100 ^{ \circ}

 :  \implies x   = 80   ^{ \circ}

Value of  x = 80^{\circ}

Put this value in the given equation

 :  \implies x   + y = 100   ^{ \circ}

 :  \implies 80 ^{ \circ}    + y = 100   ^{ \circ}

 :  \implies y = 100   ^{ \circ} - 80 ^{ \circ}

 :  \implies y = 20   ^{ \circ}

We are asked to find x . y

 :  \implies x.y =80 ^{ \circ} \times  20^{ \circ}

 :  \implies x.y =1600 ^{ \circ}
