Required Solution :

Here, according to the figure we have to find the area of the shaded region (trapezium).

In the polygon “trapezium”,we are only given its height. To find its area , we also need the measure of its parallel sides.

Given :

• Height of the trapezium = 4 cm

To calculate :

• Area

Calculation :

As per the provided figure :

  • AB = DC

[ Since opposite sides of the rectangle are equal.]

Therefore, one parallel side = 15 cm

Also,

  • HG = EF

[ Since opposite sides of the rectangle are equal.]

Therefore, another parallel side = 25 cm

Now, as we know that :

 \boxed{\sf{{Area}_{(Trapezium)} = \dfrac{1}{2} \times sum \: of \: parallel \: sides \times h}}

According to the figure :

 \sf{\longrightarrow {Area}_{(Trapezium)} = \dfrac{1}{2} \times (DC + EF) \times h}

 \sf{\longrightarrow {Area}_{(Trapezium)} = \dfrac{1}{2} \times (15+25) \times 4 \: {cm}^{2} }

 \sf{\longrightarrow {Area}_{(Trapezium)} = \dfrac{1}{2} \times 40 \times 4 \: {cm}^{2} }

 \sf{\longrightarrow {Area}_{(Trapezium)} = 40 \times 2 \: {cm}^{2} }

 \sf \red{\longrightarrow {Area}_{(Trapezium)} = 80 \: {cm}^{2} }

Therefore, area of the shaded region is 80 sq. cm.
