Let d present ages of Amit and Sham be x and y respectively

According to d first condition -:

(x-3) = 4(y-3)
x-3 = 4y-12
x-4y+9 = 0

According to d second condition -:

(x+5) = 2(y+5)
x+5 = 2y+10
x-2y-5 = 0

Solving d 2 equations simultaneously -:

We multiply d 2nd equation by 2 that gives -: 2x-4y-10 = 0

x - 4y = -9
2x -4y = 10

-x = -19
x = 19

Putting d value of x in any of d 2 conditions -:

x - 2y = 5
19 -2y = 5
-2y = 5-19
2y = 14
y = 7


Hence d ages of Amit and Sham are 19 and 7 respectively...☺☺☺
