Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

Three clock alarms are set for every 24,36 and 48 minutes and they all ring at 8 o' clock in the morning .

To find :-

What is the time at which they ring simultaneously ?

Solution :-

Given that

The setting for three alarm clocks 24 minutes ,

36 minutes and 48 minutes

24 can be written as

24 = 2×2×2×3

36 = 2×2×3×3

48 = 2×2×2×2×3

LCM of 24,36 and 48 = 2×2×2×2×3×3 = 144

The time is at which they ring simultaneously is the LCM of the numbers 24,36 and 48

They will ring after 144 minutes

=> 144 minutes = 120+24 minutes

=> 2 hours +24 minutes

If they all rang at 8 o' clock they will ring at 10:24 minutes

Since , 8 am + 2 hours and 24 minutes

= 10 am and 24 minutes

= 10:24 am

Answer:-

They all ring simultaneously after 8 o'clock in the morning is 10:24 am

Used formulae:-

  • LCM
  • Prime Factorization
  • The least Common multiple of two or more numbers is the LCM of the given numbers
