energy of the incident Photon is given by ,

E = hc/ lemda

= 1242eV / 300nm

= 4.14 eV

in hydrogen atom the electron can be excited to the first excited state if it absorbs energy equal to - 13.6eV/2^2

-(-13.6/1^2) eV - 13.6/4+13.6

= 10.2eV

your answer is:-

state of electron of atom depends upon time before and after the energy is taken........

  • the electron was in normal state and revolving around the nucleus in his orbit before the energy was given to it........
  • after taking energy he got in excited and jumped up from his shell to higher energy shell but electron of s unstable so it will come back to it original shell and emit the energy in form of radiation .........
