According to the question :

Greater no. is 8 more than thrice the smaller no.

And there sum is 60.

Let the smaller no. be x

so 3x + 8 = Greater no.

So x + 3x + 8 = 60

4x + 8 = 60

4x = 60 - 8

4x = 52

x = 52 / 4

x = 13

3x + 8 = 13 × 3 + 8 = 39 + 8 = 47.

So the smaller no. is 13

And the larger no. is 47
