GIVEN :-

  • ∠ABC = 90°.
  • BM is median .
  • AB = 8 cm.
  • BC = 6 cm.

TO FIND :-

  • The Length of BM.

SOLUTION :-

☢ In right Triangle ABC by Pythagoras theorem ,

➣ AB² + BC² = AC²

➣ (8)² + (6)² = AC²

➣ 64 + 36 = AC²

➣ 100 = AC²

➣ √100 = AC

➣ 10 = AC

➣ AC = 10.

HENCE the Length of AC is 10 cm.

☢ Now come in right Triangle ABM,

➣ AC = 10 cm.

➣ AM = AC/2

Reason:- BM is a median.

➣ AM = 10/2

➣ AM = 5 cm.

Now Triangle ABM and BCM are both isosceles triangle having the common side BM Hence,

➣ AM = BM

➣ 5 cm = BM

➣ BM = 5 cm.

Hence the Length of BM is 5 cm.

HENCE OPTION (C) IS CORRECT
