Elimination method.

⇒ 2x - 3y = 17. - - - - - (1).

⇒ 4x + y = 16. - - - - - (2).

As we know that,

From equation (1) and (2), we get.

Multiply equation (1) by 1.

Multiply equation (2) by 3.

⇒ 2x - 3y = 17. - - - - - (1). x 1.

⇒ 4x + y = 16. - - - - - (2). x 3.

We get,

⇒ 2x - 3y = 17. - - - - - (3).

⇒ 12x + 3y = 48. - - - - - (4).

Adding both the equation (3) and (4), we get.

⇒ 14x = 65.

⇒ x = 65/14.

Put the Value pf x = 65/14 in the equation (1), we get.

⇒ 2x - 3y = 17.

⇒ 2(65/14) - 3y = 17.

⇒ 130/14 - 3y = 17.

⇒ - 3y = 17 - 130/14.

⇒ - 3y = (238 - 130)/14.

⇒ - 3y = 108/14.

⇒ - y = 36/14.

⇒ y = - 36/14.

⇒ y = - 18/7.

Value of x = 65/14 and y = - 18/7.
