Question: Draw the graph of the function f: R → R by f(x) = x^2, x € R. Write thd domain and range of the function.

Answer:

D = {R}

R = [0, + ∞)

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x) = x² => y = x²

Here, x can be given any real value. There is no restriction for the value of x. It means, x can be any real number.

Domain = any real number.

Domain = { R } = set of real numbers.

Notice that, f(x) = x² and square of any number can never be -ve. We say this fact using 'square of any number is always greater than or equal to 0'. It means,

=> x² ≥ 0

=> y ≥ 0

=> y € [0, + ∞)

=> Range = [0, + ∞)
