SOLVE: Q1.A spherical mirror produces an image of magnification -1 on a screen placed at a distance of 50 cm from the mirror. (a) Write the type of mirror. (b) Find the distance of the image from the object. (c) What is the focal length of the mirror? (d) Draw the ray diagram to show the image formation in this case.

a) The image formed is real because magnification is negative.therefore ,the type is mirror used is a concave mirror.

.b)magnification  \: m</strong> =  \:  -  \frac{v}{u} \:  =  - 1  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: therefore \: u = v =  - 50cm

so, distance of the image from the object =|u| + |v|= 100cm

c) using the mirror formula, we have

 \frac{1}{f}  =  \frac{1}{v}  +  \frac{1}{u}  \\  =  \frac{1}{ - 50}  +  \frac{1}{ - 50}  =  -  \frac{1}{25}

d)The given diagram shows the image formation.
