What is groundwater ?

Groundwater is the portion of the water which seeps through cracks and crevices deep below the Earth's surface and the water present underground in conditions of 100% saturation is called groundwater .

Note : If the water is not 100% saturated then it is soil moisture .

How can we get groundwater ?

We can get water from the underground using these methods :-

(i) By using a tube well .

(ii) By drilling .

(iii) By using traditional wells.

Some methods used in taking water from wells are :

(i) Dhenkali.

(ii) Picottah .

(iii) Persian wheel.

(iv) Mhote

(v) Charas.
