I would just like to say that it is the wrong diagram must be a typo ..

Take a triangle ABC
On AB mark a point P
On AC mark a point Q

AP/BP=3.5/7=1/2
AQ/QC=3/6=1/2
Hence by BPT theorem we can say that

PQ/BC=AP/BP=AQ/QC
PQ/BC=1/2
4.5/BC=1/2
BC=4.5×2
BC=9

Hence the required answer is 9cm..
