Answer:

14 : 11

Step-by-step explanation:

Given---> A wire of 440m length is moulded in shape of square and circle one by one .

To find---> Ratio between area of circle to that of square.

Solution---> First we suppose that wire is bend in the shape of the circle , then , length of wire is converted in to circumference of circle, so

Circumference of circle = length of wire

We know that circumferemce of circle = 2 π r , putting it here we , get,

=> 2 π r = 440

=> r = 440 / 2π

=> r = 220 / π

=> r = 220 /( 22 / 7 )

=> r = 7 × 220 / 22

=> r = 10 × 7

=> r = 70 m

Now area of circle = π r²

A₁ = ( 22 / 7 ) × ( 70 )²

= ( 22 × 70 × 70 ) / 7

= 22 × 10 × 70

= 22 × 700

A₁ = 15400 m²

Now , wire is bend in the form of square , so length of wire becomes perimeter of square , so

Perimeter of square = length of wire

We know that perimeter of square = 4 ( side ) , putting it here, we get,

=>4 ( side of square ) = 440

=> Side of square = 440 / 4

=> Side of square = 110 m

Area of square = ( side )²

A₂ = ( 110 )²

A₂ = 12100 m²

Now , A₁ / A₂ = 15400 / 12100

= 154 / 121

We divide numerator and denominator by 11 , and we get,

= 14 / 11

Ratio of area of circle to that of square is

= 14 : 11
