7 \frac{1}{2}  + 1 \frac{3}{4}  - 2 \ \frac{1}{8}  \\  =  \frac{15}{2}  +  \frac{7}{4}  -  \frac{17}{8}  \\  =  \frac{60 + 14 - 17}{8}  \\  =  \frac{57}{8}  \\  = 7  \frac{1}{8}
