y=0.9 because x divided 2 is 2, 2 divided by 3 is 1.1. Then, 2+1.1y =3. 2-2 cancels, and you're left with 1.1y = 1. divide on both sides, and you get 1 divided by 1.1 and that equals 0.9

Hi,

2/x + 2/3y = 1/6

divide each term with 2 , we get

1/x + 1/3y = 1/12 ---( 1 )

3/x + 2/y = 0----( 2 )

multiply equation ( 1 ) with 3 , and subtract

from ( 2 ) , we get

3/x + 1/y = 1/4 ---( 3 )

3/x + 2/y = 0---( 2 )
_______________

( 1/y - 2/y ) = 1/4

-1/y = 1/4

-y = 4

y = - 4

Put y = - 4 in equation ( 2 ) ,

2/x + 2/( - 4 ) = 0

2/x - 1/2 = 0

2/x = 1/2

4 = x

Therefore ,

x = 4 , y = -4

I hope this helps you.
