here is your answer!!!
given
x-y = 1
or
x = 1+ y -----------------(1) .
2x + 3y = 12 --------------------(2).
on putting the value of the equation 1 in equation 2 we get
=> 2 ( 1+y ) +3y = 12
=> 2+ 2y +3y = 12
=> 5y = 10
y = 2
now put the value of y in equation 1 we get
x = y+1
x = 2+1
x = 3
hence., x = 3
y = 1
