We are given two equations:

3x + y = 14 -------- 1
x - y = 2 -------- 2

On adding equation 1 and 2 we get:
4x = 16
So, x = 4

Placing the value of x in equation 2:
4 - y = 2
So, y = 2

Verification, taking equation 2
We have got the value of x as 4 and value of y as 2.
Therefore, 4 - 2 = 2
So, LHS = RHS
Therefore, our answer is correct.
