7x - y = 12 eqn (ii)

multiply eqn (ii) by 2

that is 14x -2y = 24 eqn(iii)

subtract eqn(i) and eqn(iii)

14x - 2y - (3x - 2y) = 24 - 24 \\ 11x = 0 \\ x = 0

insert value of x in eqn(i)

3(0) + 2y = 24

2y = 24

y = 12
