QUESTION-:

Solve simultaneous equations x + 2y = 4; 3x + 6y = 12 graphically.

EXPLANATION-:

Given 2 equation-:

x+2y=4  --(eq-1)

3x+6y=12  --(eq-2)

Simplifying the equations we get-:

x+2y=4

2y=4-x

y=(4-x)/2

Finding the value of x and corresponding value to y -:

If x=0 then-:

y=(4-0)/2

y=2

If x=2 then-:

y=(4-2)/2

y=1

If x=4 then -:

y=(4-4)/2

y=0

Therefore-:

x |0 ,  2, 4

y |2,   1 , 0

Now -:

3x+6y=12

3(x+2y)=12

x+2y=4

Finding the value of x and corresponding value to y -:

If x=0 then-:

y=(4-0)/2

y=2

If x=2 then-:

y=(4-2)/2

y=1

If x=4 then -:

y=(4-4)/2

y=0

Therefore-:

x |0 ,  2, 4

y |2,   1 , 0

Since the equations on solving are same therefore we can say that ,the values of x and y are infinite in the given equations .
