Given:-

  • A train has a length of 100m.
  • Length of bridge is 0.5km.
  • Speed of train is 72km/hr.

To Find:-

  • The time taken by the train to cross the bridge .

Formula Used:-

We know that distance equals to product of speed and time .

\large{\underline{\boxed{\pink{\tt{\dag Distance(s)\:\:=\:\:Speed(v)\:\:\times\:\:Time(t) }}}}}

Answer:-

Here ,

➤ Length of train = 100m .

➤ Length of bridge = 0.5 km = 500m.

➤ Speed of train = 72km/hr = 72×5/18 m/s = 20m/s.

Now ,

Total distance required to cover = (500+100)m=600m.

Now we that distance is equal to speed by time and substituting the respective value in the above formula stated we have,

Let us take time to be 't' .

➤ Distance = Speed × Time .

➥ 600m = 20m/s × t .

➥ t = 600 m ÷ 20m/s .

➥ t = 30 s .

Hence the time taken by train to cross the bridge is 30s.
