taking lcm it becomes

(9x-8y)/12=1

9x-8y=12 (mark this as 1)

now

3x/8-1y/6=1

taking lcm it becomes

(9x-4y)/24=1

subtracting 1 from 2, we get

9x-9x-4y+8y=12

4y=12
