Given  :  20 - (2x - 5)  = 25

To Find : Solve the equation

and Verify the result

Solution:

20 - (2x - 5)  = 25

Subtract 20 from both sides

=> -(2x - 5)  = 25 - 20

=> -(2x- 5)  = 5

Multiplying by -1 on both sides

=>(2x - 5)  = - 5

=> 2x - 5 = - 5

cancel -5 from both sides

=> 2x = 0

Divide by 2 both sides

=>x = 0

Hence value of x = 0

Verification :

20 - (2x - 5)  = 25

Substitute x = 0  in LHS

LHS = 20 - (2 * 0 - 5)

= 20-(0 - 5)

= 20 - (-5)

= 20 + 5

= 25

= RHS

LHS = RHS

Hence Verified
