Given:

2x+3y = 9

y-x = -2

To find:

Solve the equation with reduction method.

Solution:

2x+3y = 9

y = x-2( Bring x to other side it becomes positive)

Substitute y=x-2 in 2x+3y = 9

\begin{bmatrix}2x+3\left(x-2\right)=9\end{bmatrix}

2x +3x-6=9

5x-6=9

5x=15\\\\x=3

substitute the value x=3 in y=x-2

y=3-2\\y=1

By solving the equation by method of reduction we get the value of x as 3 and y as 1.
