 \frac{3x + 2}{x - 1}  =  \frac{3x + 4}{x + 1}

By cross multiplication:

3x + 2(x + 1) = x - 1(3x + 4)

3x(x + 1) + 2(x + 1) = x(3x + 4) - 1(3x + 4)

3 {x}^{2}  + 3x + 2x + 2 = 3 {x}^{2}  + 4x - 3x - 4

3 {x}^{2}  + 5x + 2 = 3 {x}^{2}  + x - 4

3 {x}^{2}  - 3 {x}^{2}  + 5x + x =  - 4 - 2

6x =  - 6

x =  - 1
