Answer:

5p^2+20p+p+4=14p+10

5p^2+21p+4=14p+10

5p^2+21p-14p+4-10=0

5p^2+7p-6=0

5p^2+10p-3p-6=0

5p(p+2) -3(p+2)=0

(p+2)(5p-3)=0

p= -2, p=3/5

Answer:

p = -2, ⅗

Explanation:

Given equation :-

⇒ (5p + 1)(p + 4) = 2(7p + 5)

Solving for p :-

⇒ 5p² + p + 20p + 4 = 14p + 10

⇒ 5p² + 21p + 4 = 14p + 10

⇒ 5p² + 21p - 14p + 4 - 10 = 0

⇒ 5p² + 7p - 6 = 0

Splitting middle term :-

⇒ 5p² + 10p - 3p - 6 = 0

⇒ 5p(p + 2) - 3(p + 2) = 0

⇒ (p + 2)(5p - 3) = 0

⇒ p = -2, ⅗

Therefore the value of p is -2 or,

Verification :-

On substituting the values of x

⇒ 5p² + 7p - 6 = 0

⇒ 5(-2)² + 7(-2) - 6 = 0

⇒ 5(4) - 14 - 6 = 0

⇒ 20 - 20 = 0

⇒ 0 = 0

And also, at x = ⅗

⇒ 5(⅗)² + 7(⅗) - 6 = 0

⇒ 9/5 + 21/5 - 6 = 0

⇒ 30 - 30/5 = 0

⇒ 0/5 = 0

⇒ 0 = 0

Hence verified !
