Answer:

5x + 9 = 5 + 3x

  Transposing 3x to the LHS and 9 to the RHS, we get:

                    5x - 3x = 5 - 9

or                      2x = -4

Dividing both sides by 2 :

                  x = -2

Check :-    Put x = - 2 in both LHS and RHS

              LHS :-  5x + 9 = 5(-2) + 9 =  -10 + 9 = -1

              RHS :-  5 + 3x = 5 + 3(-2) = 5 - 6 = -1

         Hence,                 LHS = RHS

Step-by-step explanation:

5x + 9 = 5 + 3x

5x - 3x = 5 - 9

2x = -4

x = -4/2

x = -2

verify

LHS = 5*(-2) +9

= -10 + 9

= -1

RHS = 5 + 3*(-2)

= 5 - 10

= -1

so, LHS = RHS
