 \frac{6x + 1}{3 + 1}  =  \frac{x - 3}{6}  \\  \\ by \: cross \: multiplication \\  \\ 36x + 6 = 4x - 12 \\  \\ 36x - 4x =  - 12 - 6 \\  \\ 32x =  - 18 \\  \\  x =   -  \frac{18}{32}  \\  \\ x =  -  \frac{9}{16}  \\  \\
