Answer:

x = 9

Step-by-step explanation:

7(x-2) = 49

= (x-2) = 49 / 7

= x-2 = 7

= x = 7 + 2

x = 9

Proof :

= 7(9-2) = 49

= 7 X 7 = 49

49 = 49

LHS = RHS

Hence proved

Here we are given an equation 7(x-2) = 49

We have to solve this equation for  x

We will use transposition

While transposing the operation gets changed

Here, when we will transpose 7 to the right hand side, the operation will change from multiplication to division

Similarly, when 2 will be transposed the operation will change from subtraction to addition

7(x-2) = 49

 x - 2 = 49/7

 x - 2 = 7

       x = 7 + 2

        x = 9

Hence, the value of x will be 9
