By trial and error method,

First we get,

Lets take a as 1..and we will try it out...

a+4=7

1+4=7

5 is not = 7

so , its not 1 ..

Lets try out that a=2

a+4=7

2+4=7

6 is not =7

so, its not 2...

Lets try out taking a as 3

a+4=7

3+4=7

7=7

So the answer is a=3...
