\frac{x}{2}  +  \frac{x}{8}  =  \frac{1}{4}  \\   \\  \rightarrow \:  \frac{4x + x}{8}  =  \frac{1}{4}  \\  \\  \rightarrow \:  \frac{5x}{8}  =  \frac{1}{4}  \\  \\  \rightarrow \: x =  \frac{1}{4}  \times  \frac{8}{5}  =  \frac{2}{5}  \\  \\  \rightarrow \: x =  \frac{2}{5}

verification :
