Solve the equation by method of factorisation :-
(p+q)^2x^2 + (p+q)x - 2 = 0 ; (p+q is not equal to zero)

(p+q)²x²+(p+q)x-2=0

take (p+q)=t

t²x²+tx-2=0

t²x²+2tx-tx-2=0

tx(tx+2)-1(tx+2)=0

(tx-1)(tx+2)=0

(tx-1)=0 ; (tx+2)=0

x= 1/t ; x=-2/t

x= 1/p+q ; x = -2/p+q

put the value of t = p+q
