To Find:

  • To solve the equation by middle term splitting.

Answer:

Taking given equation ,

⇒18x²-21x-49=0.

⇒18x²-42x+21x-49=0.

⇒6x(3x-7)+7(3x-7)=0.

⇒(6x+7)(3x-7)=0.

x = 7/3 , -7/6 .

Hence x can staisfy 7/3,-7/6.

x = 7/3 , -7/6

Solution :-

Given quadratic equation, 18x² + 21x - 49 = 0

Split the middle term , we get

=> 18x² + 21x - 49 = 0

=> 18x² - (42 + 21)x - 49 = 0

=> 18x² - 42x + 21x - 49 = 0

=> 6x ( 3x - 7 ) + 7 ( 3x - 7 ) = 0

=> (6x + 7 ) ( 3x - 7 ) = 0

=> 6x + 7 = 0 Or 3x - 7 = 0

=> x = -7/6 Or x = 7/3

Hence,

x = ( 7/3 , -7/6 ) .
