Hey user

Here is your answer :-

x + y = 14

》x = 14 - y

x - y = 4 . . . . ( 1 )

Substituting ( x = 14 - y ) in above equation,

14 - y - y = 4

》14 - 2y = 4

》2y = 14 - 4

》2y = 10

》y = 5

Putting ( y = 5 ) in equation ( 1 ) we get ,

x - 5 = 4

》x = 4 + 5

》x = 9

Hence ( 9 , 5 ) is the solution set for given equations.

Thank you .

Solve by Substitution :

// Solve equation [2] for the variable  y

[2] y = -x + 14

// Plug this in for variable  y  in equation [1]

  [1] x - (-x +14) = -4   [1] 2x = 10

// Solve equation [1] for the variable  x

  [1] 2x = 10    [1] x = 5

// By now we know this much :

  x = 5   y = -x+14

// Use the  x  value to solve for  y

  y = -(5)+14 = 9

Solution :

 {x,y} = {5,9}  Processing ends successfully
