a) 8x-3 = 9-2x [GIVEN]

By transposition method,

--> 8x + 2x = 9 + 3

--> 10x = 12

--> x = 12/10 = 1.2

∴ X = 1.2

(b) (4p+2)/3-p/2=4

LCM (3,2) = 6

So, multiply the whole equation by 6.

--> 6[(4p+2)/3-p/2] = 4(6)

--> 2(4p+2) - 3p = 24

--> 8p + 4 - 3p = 24

--> 5p = 20

--> p = 20/5 = 4

∴ P = 4
