On solving the given equations using elimination method, we get x = 6,

y = 8.

  • Given equations are

                \frac{x}{3}+\frac{y}{4}=4------------(1)

                \frac{5x}{6}-\frac{y}{8}=4------------(2)

  • Dividing (1) by 2, we get

                \frac{x}{6}+\frac{y}{8}=2------------(3)

  • Adding (2) and (3)

                \frac{5x}{6}+\frac{x}{6}-\frac{y}{8}+\frac{y}{8}=4+2

                \frac{6x}{6}=6

                 x = 6

  • Substituting 'x' in (1), we get

                \frac{6}{3}+\frac{y}{4}=4

                \frac{y}{4}=2

                y = 8
