given : there are linear equation of two variables ; 4x - 5y + 16 = 0 and 2x + 6 - y = 0
we have to find the solution of given equations.
Solution : Let 4x - 5y + 16 = 0 .....(1)
2x + 6 - y = 2x - y + 6 = 0 .......(2)
multiplying 5 with equation (2) and then subtracting from equation (1)
i.e., 4x - 5y + 16 - 5(2x - y + 6) = 0
⇒4x - 5y + 16 - {10x - 5y + 30} = 0
⇒4x - 5y + 16 - 10x + 5y - 30 = 0
⇒-6x - 14 = 0
⇒x = -7/3
Now putting value of x in equation (1) we get,
2(-7/3) - y + 6 = 0
⇒-14/3 + 6 = y
⇒4/3 = y
Therefore the solution of given equations is x = 4/3 and y = -7/3.
