question :-

 \frac {p}{3} + \frac {p}{4} = 55- p + \frac{4}{5}

LHS:-

  • lowest common factor of the denominator

 \frac {p}{3} + \frac{p}{4}

\frac{4p+3p}{12}

\frac{7p}{12}

RHS :-

55- p + \frac{4}{5}

55+ \frac{4}{5}-p

\frac{275+4}{5}-p

\frac{279}{5}-p

compare LHS and RHS

\frac{7p}{12}= \frac{279}{5}-p

\frac{7p}{12}+p= \frac{279}{5}

\frac{7p+12p}{12}= \frac{279}{5}

\frac{19p}{12}= \frac{279}{5}

 p= \frac {279 * 12}{5*19}

 p= \frac {3348}{95}
