Solution

We have,

15/4 -7x=9

or -7x=9 -15/4

{transposing 15/4 toRHS}

or -7x=21/4

or x=21/4×(-7)

{dividing both sides by -7}

or x= - 3×7/4×7

or x= -3/4 {solution}

LHS=

 15 \div 4 - 7( - 3 \div 4) = 15 \div 4 + 21 \div 4 = 36 \div 4 = 9 = {lhs}
