 \sf \bf 5x + 12 = 3x + 20

On putting the constants and variables separately,

\sf \bf 5x  - 3x = 20 - 12

On simplifying,

 \sf \bf 2x = 8

Transposing 2 from LHS to RHS, changing its sign,

 \sf  \bf x =  \dfrac{8}{2}

Dividing 8 by 2,

 \sf \bf x = 4.

So, the value of x = 4.

Verification :-

To check our answer, we just have to put 4 in place of x and see if the LHS = RHS.

Putting x, we get :-

 \sf \bf 5 \times 4  \: + 12 = 3 \:  \times 4 + 20

 \bf 20 + 12 = 12 + 20

 \bf 32 = 32.

Since LHS = RHS,

Hence verified! ✔️✔️
