Solve the following:
a) 4x - 3 = 2x + 7
b) 2x + 6 = 7x - 14

a) 4x-3=2x+7

or, 4x-2x=7+3

or, 2x=10

or, x=10/2

therefore, x=5

b) 2x+6=7x-14

or,2x-7x=-14-6

or, -5x= -20

or, x=20/5

therefore, x=4
