Answer:

1. 2x = 19 - 5

2x = 14

x = 14/2

x = 7

2. 8x -3 = 3x + 17

8x - 3x = 17 + 3

5x = 20

x = 20/5

x = 4

3. 3(2y-3) = 9

2y-3 = 9/3

2y-3 = 3

2y = 3+3

2y = 6

y = 6/2

y = 3

4. 3(a-5) = 2(4-a)

3a - 15 = 8 - 2a

3a + 2a = 8 + 15

5a = 23

a = 23/5

5. 5b + 2(2b - 1) = 3b -14

5b + 4b - 2 = 3b -14

9b - 3b = -14 + 2

6b = -12

b = -12/6

b = -2
