ANSWER:

5x + 2 - 3(x + 2) = 2(x + 1) + 5(x - 2)

5x + 2 - 3x - 6 = 2x + 2 + 5x - 10

5x - 3x + 2 - 6 = 2x + 5x + 2 - 10

2x - 4 = 7x - 8

2x - 7x = 4 - 8

 - 5x =  - 4

x =  \frac{ - 4}{ - 5}

x = 0.8

VERIFICATION:

5x + 2 - 3(x + 2) = 2(x + 1) + 5(x - 2)

5(0.8) + 2 - 3( 0.8+ 2) = 2(0.8+ 1) + 5(0.8 - 2)

4 + 2 - 3(2.8) = 2(1.8) + 5( - 1.2)

6 - 8.4 = 3.6 - 6

 - 2.4 =  - 2.4
