a.) x² + 14x + 48

6. Divide the following :-  

a.) (-81 ) by 72 a²b²c²

b.) 64 l²mn by 8lmn  

c.) -35 x²y³ by -7x³y²  

7. Divide the following :-  

a.) 15  + 12 - 6a² by 3a²

b.) 16 - 8 by 2x²y³  

c.) 10x³y³ - 5x²y by -5xy  

8. Work out the following divisions :-  

a.) (8x - 32)   (x - 4)

b.) [60xyz(5x - 30)(3y - 30)(6z - 18)]   30x(x - 6)(y - 10)

Solution :-

5. a.) x² + 14x + 48  

=> x² + (8 + 6)x + 48  

=> x² + 8x + 6x + 48  

=> x(x + 8)+ 6(x + 8)  

=> (x + 8)(x + 6)  

b.) y² + 12y - 45  

=> y² + (15 - 3)y - 45  

=> y² + 15y - 3y - 45  

=> y(y + 15) - 3(y - 15)  

=> (y + 15)(y - 3)  

c.) 6z² + 5z - 6  

=> 6 z² + (9 - 4)z - 6  

=> 6 z² + 9z - 4z - 6  

=> 3z(2z + 3) - 2(2z + 3)  

=> (2z + 3)(3z - 2)  

6. a.) (-81) by 72 a²b²c²

=> \dfrac{-81a^4b^4c^5}{72a^2b^2c^2}

=>  \dfrac{-9a^{4-2}b^{4-2}c^{5-2}}{8}

[\dfrac{m^n}{m^a}=m^{m-a}]  

=> \dfrac{-9a^{2}b^{2}c^{3}}{8}

b.) 64 l²mn by 8lmn  

=> \dfrac{64 l^2mn}{8lmn }

=> \dfrac{8l^{2-1}}{1 }

=> \dfrac{8l^{1}}{1 }

=> 8 l  

c.) -35 x²y³ by -7x³y²  

=> \frac{-35x^{2} y^{3} }{-7x^{3} y^{2}}

=> 5 x^{2-3} y^{3-2}

=> 5 x^-1 y^1

[m^{-n} = \dfrac{1}{m^n}]

=> \dfrac{5y}{x}

=> y² + (15 - 3)y - 45  

=> y² + 15y - 3y - 45  

=> y(y + 15) - 3(y - 15)  

=> (y + 15)(y - 3)  

c.) 6z² + 5z - 6  

=> 6 z² + (9 - 4)z - 6  

=> 6 z² + 9z - 4z - 6  

=> 3z(2z + 3) - 2(2z + 3)  

=> (2z + 3)(3z - 2)

=> \dfrac{-81a^4b^4c^5}{72a^2b^2c^2}
