Pervez Musharraf was born on the date of 11 August 1943 and is a Pakistani politician as well as a retired four-star general who had become the tenth president of Pakistan after the successful military takeover of the federal government in the year 1999. He had held the presidency from the year of 2001 until 2008, when he had tendered his resignation in order to avoid impeachment.

Pakistan under General Parvez Musharraf was not called a democracy since the rulers had not been elected by the people. People might have elected their representatives to the national as well as the provincial assemblies but all these elected representatives were not really considered as the rulers. Also, they could not take the final decisions.

The power of taking final decisions rested along with army officials and with General Musharraf, and none of them had been elected by the people. Under him, Pakistan went under military rule. He erased away the democratically elected government and also used dirty tricks for winning the referendum held in the year 2002. Plus, he did not show any quick reaction towards the militants. He wanted to rule Pakistan as long as he could.

Note: Though Parvez Musharraf was basically considered to hold ordinary views and also promised an eventual return to civilian rule, Musharraf had suspended the constitution as well as dissolved the parliament.
